Editorial Policy

At PestKill.org, every article is produced according to the same research and editorial standards. This page explains how we create content, how we keep it accurate over time, and how we handle corrections and affiliate relationships.

Who Writes Our Content

All content on PestKill.org is researched and written by Inga Cryton, the founder of this site. Inga has been researching pest biology, behavior, and control methods since 2012. No content is outsourced to anonymous writers or produced using automated tools without expert review.

Our Research Standards

We build every guide from primary sources. Before publishing, we consult:

  • Peer-reviewed scientific literature indexed on PubMed/NCBI — for pest biology, allergen data, and treatment efficacy
  • U.S. government agencies — the CDC, EPA pesticide guidance, and the ATSDR for safety and health recommendations
  • University extension programs — including Kansas State University, UC Davis, and Penn State, which publish science-based, regionally tested pest management guidance
  • EPA registration data — all recommended pesticide products are checked for current EPA registration status before being included in a guide

We link directly to our sources within each article so readers can verify claims independently.

Content Review and Update Policy

Pest management guidance changes over time — new products come to market, pest resistance patterns shift, and agency recommendations are updated. We maintain content accuracy through the following process:

  • Annual review cycle — all articles are audited at least once per year for factual accuracy and current best practices
  • Event-driven updates — when the EPA, CDC, or other authoritative source publishes new guidance relevant to one of our articles, we update that article promptly
  • Revision dating — every article displays its most recent review date so readers know how current the information is

Corrections Policy

If you find an error in one of our articles — a factual mistake, an outdated recommendation, or a broken source link — please contact us. We investigate all correction requests and update the relevant content within 7 days if the correction is warranted. Significant factual corrections are noted within the article.

Affiliate and Commercial Relationships

PestKill.org participates in the Amazon Associates Program and earns a commission when readers purchase products through our links. Our editorial process is completely independent of these relationships:

  • Products are selected based on active ingredients, EPA registration, and published efficacy data — not commission rates
  • No manufacturer or retailer pays for placement or positive coverage on this site
  • Sponsored content does not exist on PestKill.org
  • All affiliate relationships are disclosed on our Affiliate Disclosure page

Advertising

PestKill.org displays Google AdSense advertisements. These ads are served automatically based on page content and reader interests. Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content.
